In a significant engineering achievement for India’s first high-speed rail corridor, engineers have successfully completed the installation of a 100-metre steel bridge section for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project without disrupting operations of a nearby existing metro tunnel. The milestone underscores the project’s technical precision and the growing capabilities of India’s infrastructure sector.

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) oversaw the complex erection of the bridge span over multiple rail tracks, a process that involved meticulous planning and phased execution to ensure safety and continuity of services on adjacent transport lines. The bridge, fabricated in India and assembled on site, reflects the “Make in India” approach driving the high-speed rail initiative and integrates advanced construction methods.

Officials said the work was carried out seamlessly, demonstrating robust coordination between project teams and local transport authorities. The high-speed rail corridor, stretching approximately 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, aims to cut travel time between the two major cities dramatically once operational.

Construction of the bullet train continues to progress with other milestones on viaducts, bridges, and tunnels being achieved steadily under stringent engineering and safety standards.
