Bengaluru:
Garden City University inaugurated a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Innovation, Research, and Technology Integration: A Triad for Augmented Learning”, aimed at strengthening research-led pedagogy and integrating emerging technologies into higher education.

The first session was delivered by Prof. Padmanabhan Balaram, former Director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, who addressed faculty members on the significance of research-led pedagogy across disciplines. Drawing from the historical evolution of science, Prof. Balaram highlighted how pioneering inventors and innovators shaped the foundations of chemistry, biology, and physics through systematic observation, classification, and experimentation. Emphasizing the contemporary relevance of science, he noted that quantum science now plays a transformative role across disciplines, stressing that awareness of quantum concepts is essential for modern educators. He also reflected on the ongoing cognitive revolution, underscoring its impact on learning, knowledge production, and interdisciplinary research.

The second session was led by Dr. Vinay M, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science, Statistics, and Data Science at CHRIST (Deemed to be University). His lecture, titled “The Intelligence Synthesis Architecture: The Future of Research through AI Integration,” focused on the role of Artificial Intelligence in academic research. Dr. Vinay discussed the growing importance of AI prompting skills, the use of Generative AI tools, and platforms such as Midjourney and Napkin for research visualization and ideation. He also demonstrated how integrated AI ecosystems like Google Gemini offer multiple tools that can enhance scholarly productivity. Importantly, he emphasized the ethical use of AI, highlighting the need for responsible adoption, academic integrity, and transparency in research practices.

The inaugural day set a strong intellectual foundation for the FDP, reinforcing Garden City University’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven, ethically grounded, and technology-enabled teaching and research.
