BENGALURU: Garden City University (GCU) conferred degrees on 1,275 undergraduate and postgraduate students during its 8th Annual Convocation at its main campus in Hoskote. The ceremony across nine academic schools also awarded Ph.D. degrees to four research scholars and honored 33 rank holders for exceptional academic performance.
Eminent industry leaders, scientists, and academicians addressed the graduating class, urging them to focus on ethical leadership, continuous learning, and societal contribution in an evolving global market
S. D. Shibulal, Co-founder of Infosys, delivered the valedictory address, emphasizing that continuous upskilling, adaptability, and value-based leadership are essential to navigate an AI-driven economy.
Dr. Shubha V. Iyengar, Padma Shri awardee and former NAL scientist, defined desire, determination, and principled decision-making as key pillars of professional growth, calling on graduates to serve the nation.
Prof. K. S. Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor University of Mysore, urged students to measure success by integrity and social impact rather than salary, emphasizing the need for empathy alongside technical skill.
Dr. Durga Das, Founder and CEO of Aeronero Solutions, advised graduates to embrace failure as a learning opportunity and nurture human relationships amidst rapid technological shifts.
Addressing the audience, GCU Chancellor Dr. Joseph V.G. encouraged students to prioritize true knowledge and character over mere credentials, while Vice-Chancellor. Dr. M. Ramachandra Gowda expressed confidence that the class of 2024 would drive positive change grounded in social responsibility.
The convocation took place in the presence of Registrar Dr. Sheeja M. S. and Controller of Examinations Dr. Sibi Shaji.
