India’s Under-19 cricket team clinched a record-extending sixth ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup title with a commanding performance in the final against England at the Harare Sports Club on Friday. The young Indian side posted a daunting 411/9 after electing to bat, powered by an extraordinary innings of 175 off 80 balls by 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, featuring 15 fours and 15 sixes — the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final.

India’s total set a formidable target that England struggled to chase, ultimately being dismissed for 311 runs, handing India a 100-run victory and the championship trophy. England’s Caleb Falconer scored a valiant 115, but his effort wasn’t enough to halt India’s surge.

The triumph adds to India’s previous Under-19 World Cup wins in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022, underscoring the nation’s dominance in youth cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a Rs 7.5 crore reward for the squad and support staff in recognition of their unbeaten campaign and outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

India’s blend of explosive batting and disciplined bowling in Harare highlighted the depth of young talent poised to shape the future of Indian cricket.
